In Thai Buddhist culture one day per week there is a big ceremony that we have the honour of taking part in. Usually every day the monks go on alms rounds, walking the streets to beg for food, however on Buddha day the people bring it to them in the monastery.

Staying within the monastery

The main monastery that we are affiliated with is a big, beautiful temple in the south of the city. Due to our unique relationship with the abbot we are often able to stay within the monastery itself, which means we are able to meditate before the ceremony, and then take part in the chanting and alms giving. We give back by cleaning the monastery, often have a teaching, and  then spend the afternoon doing a longer meditation session to really deepen our practice.

It’s a truly incredible experience.
